I have been exploring gaming mechanics and I am really interested in the art side of creative media. I have successfully passed my GCSEs, including art, and received a merit in Games Design.
I have received a First Class Honors in Games Design course in Salford of University.
After my time in college and university, I understand the workflow and work I am expecting for the games industry. I want to further my experience and get a position in the gaming industry as a 3D artist.

March 2016 - 1 week work experience
At Flix studios I saw how the TV production team manage their projects. They have worked with the BBC to create popular titles such as Postman Pat. I had the opportunity to use their editing software to create my own project. I used Avid software to edit raw footage of a TV show and I reduced the footage to a few minutes.
BBC Games Design Team
July 2018 (1st week)
The BBC Games Design Team presented me with their projects they were working on and how the team managed their workload. They were working on a game called Nightfall. The game is an online multiplayer game for the CBBC website where players would collaborate to destroy enemies known as "Nightmares". They gave me a task to design an illustration of a cowboy scene for their work. This was then used by the design team to plan what affects their game.
February 2019 (2nd Week)
The environment and workflow at the BBC games design team had changed a great deal. The new team loved my enthusiasm and my creative thinking or as they called it a "strong asset". I have learnt a lot around the game development in the industry and enhanced my confidence.
Below you can find all the images and work I completed:
Here, I have developed some ideas for a game the team has been working on called Playtime Island. The ideas was then created into a storyboard which is what the team does to present their ideas.
We first came up with questions to focus on for the game, for example "How might we advertise our mini games better?". This is then broken down into 'Crazy Eights' which is a technique they use. In 8 minutes you need to think of an idea in each minute. At the end you should end up with 8 ideas illustrated. The team then decides the top 3 ideas from the Crazy Eights and focuses on them.
Here is lab testing. Lab testing is when the games department hire their chosen audience "Children" to play a prototype before it goes to production. I enjoyed my time watching the children struggle because it showed the game needed heavy development and I learnt how a gaming concept may not be successful at first.
Here is an idea I have came up with for the BBC website. The team has found out that there is not much 'participation' found in the audience targeted between 13 - 35 and they wanted to tackle this. What I did to tackle this is that I wanted to create something that a player feels accomplished for. Therefore i created Badges which are achievements. This is something a player can use to represent their account to others. For example, a player can represent their Shaun the Sheep badge which is an achievement if you watch a full season of Shaun the sheep. I have made a lot of Badges similar like this. The website team loved the idea.
Here is some feedback from the manager I was working with. He attached my final presentation which you can view below.
You can also view below my overview from Samuel (team leader).
